Philippine Bike-Tour for Life and Peace Part 2.

Tacloban - Basey - Tacloban, Thursday, May 8, 2008.

I have cycled across Leyte from Malitbog to Tacloban the previous day, today I was crossing San Juanico Bridge and biked into Samar to meet with Father Picxs.

Our resort where we spent the night did not offer breakfast, so we went to McDonalds, unfortunately what I wanted to order was out of stock, and my second choice was not available yet. Not uncommon here in the Philippines though.

After brekkie, I started assembling the bike

Gear is important, especially helmet and water

The crowd watches my every move

Outside Tacloban, towards Samar. The road has been much improved since I biked here last September 2007. I wish the Mayor of Mactan would do the same with the shamefully dilapitated roads on Mactan island.

And here I come to the bridge connecting Leyte with Samar and vice versa, of course.

There we go

Some technical information about the bridge

And the credits, I did not know it was named Marcos Bridge.

Final destination for the day, Redemptorist Church Tacloban City

My distance today was 65 km approximately, I'm not sure because my odometer did not work.

Thank you for all the help and support, it was a memorable event and I wish Father Picardal a great journey and safe road home.
